How CiteLead works

CiteLead finds what keeps AI answer engines from reaching, reading and citing your site, and is being built to do the work that fixes it.

The four steps

The first two steps work today. The other two are in development.

  1. Enter your web address

    We read up to 10 public pages the way AI crawlers do, starting with your robots.txt, sitemap and llms.txt.

  2. Get the fixes

    Each finding comes with a plain explanation, and the audit writes the fix files for you: robots.txt, Organization structured data and an optional llms.txt.

  3. Publish answer pages

    We will host one page for each real question your customers ask, on a subdomain of your site, built only from facts you confirm.

  4. See the leads

    You will see which AI crawlers read your pages, which AI answers send you visitors and, once Stripe is connected, which of those visitors pay.

The audit, step by step

  1. Reads your robots.txt first and obeys it.
  2. Loads your homepage, your llms.txt, up to 6 sitemap files and up to 10 pages in all, the way AI crawlers would.
  3. Asks for your homepage as a browser and as AI crawlers, to see whether your firewall treats them differently.
  4. Scores 9 areas, shows llms.txt for information only, and explains every finding in plain English.
  5. Writes three fix files from what it found: robots.txt, Organization structured data and an optional llms.txt.

You choose how much access to give

Each level lets CiteLead do more for you, and you can stop at any of them. Level 0 works today. Levels 1 to 3 are in development.

  2. Level 1 One DNS record

    You
    Point a subdomain such as answers.yoursite.com at CiteLead.
    CiteLead
    Will host your answer pages there, submit them to search engines and log which AI crawlers and answers reach them.

  3. Level 2 A script tag and Stripe

    You
    Paste one script tag and connect Stripe.
    CiteLead
    Will follow AI-referred visitors to signups and revenue, page by page.

  4. Level 3 Your own tools

    You
    Connect GitHub, your CMS, or your Cloudflare or Vercel logs.
    CiteLead
    Will send fixes as pull requests for you to review, or publish to your CMS, and read AI crawler visits across your whole site.

What CiteLead will not do

  • State a fact on your behalf that you have not confirmed.
  • Invent numbers, reviews, customers or "updated" dates.
  • Let a page into search indexes before it passes our quality checks.
  • Make claims about your competitors.
